How to Verify a Paramedical Institute Before Paying the Admission Fee

Every year, students pay admission fees to institutes that turn out to have no recognition, poor teaching or no practical training. The certificate at the end is then of little use. A little checking before you pay is the best protection.

1. Ask about affiliation for your exact program

Ask which board or authority the institute is affiliated with, whether the affiliation covers your chosen program and campus, and for how long it is valid. Ask to see the document. If you are told "everything is approved" but nothing is shown, be careful. See our explanation of SBTE affiliation for how to confirm this.

2. Understand which certificate you will receive

Ask who issues the certificate, what the examination process is and what the certificate will be called. A vague answer such as "you will get a good certificate" is not an answer.

3. Visit in person

Go during class hours. Look for real classrooms, laboratories or skill rooms, working equipment, clean surroundings and staff who can answer questions. Do not judge only from photographs or social media posts.

4. Ask about practical training

Paramedical work is practical. Ask how many hours are spent on practical training, where it takes place, how many students use the same equipment and who supervises. If the answer is only "theory and notes", think twice.

5. Get the fee structure in writing

Ask for a written breakdown: admission fee, monthly fee, exam fee, uniform, books and any other charges. Ask when the fees are due, what the late fee is and what the refund policy is if you leave. Fees quoted on a website may not include exam or registration costs.

6. Always get a receipt

Pay only through the channels stated by the institute and keep every receipt. Do not hand money to an individual who cannot issue an official receipt.

7. Talk to current students

If possible, speak to two or three students who are already enrolled, away from the office. Ask about attendance, how classes run and whether the promises made at admission were kept.

8. Be careful with promises

No honest institute can guarantee a job or guarantee that you will pass. Statements like "100 percent placement" or "pass without study" are warning signs.

Questions you can ask on the phone

If you cannot visit at once, a call can still tell you a lot. Ask the same questions to two different staff members and compare the answers. Genuine institutes will answer patiently, will not pressure you to pay immediately and will invite you to visit. If you are told that the seat will be gone in an hour unless you pay now, treat this as a warning.

What to do if you have already paid

• Keep all receipts, messages and any promotional material that promised particular benefits.
• Write to the institute politely and ask for the missing information or documents.
• If you do not get a satisfactory reply, contact the relevant board or authority to ask for guidance.
• Do not pay further installments until the questions are resolved.

Trust your judgement

If something feels unclear or rushed, take a day to think. A good institute will still be there tomorrow.
